I particularly enjoy IKEA’s ways of doing business, we onboard our transport service providers as partners with whom we create long-term relationships. We aim to become more efficient and achieve lower prices but most importantly we want our service providers to grow with us! I truly enjoy the varied and dynamic work environment, as well as, working with numerous stakeholders. I build my own structure to best navigate this assignment. Job description

As our next Business Developer you will contribute to our value chain and create more satisfied customers. You will develop a high performing Transport service providers' base and be the preferred business partner for existing and new IKEA Service providers.Amongst other things, your assignment will include:
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Transport Service providers to secure their performance in aspects of compliance, Agreements, IKEA code of conduct, Supply Chain security and other requirements.
  • Professionally challenge and support Transport Service providers to constantly improve f.e. increase overall competitiveness through better networks, alternative drive-trains and fuels, better equipment, intermodal solution and other new smart solutions.
  • Identify and act on business opportunities through business cases/projects, introducing new potential Transport service providers and actively taking part in tenders and/or other procurement activities. We want you to utilize the service providers Transport industry knowledge and guide them to achieve IKEA long term goals.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of relevant transport market conditions, keep up-to-date with industry trends, incl. innovative approaches and economical influences. Follow the development of legal/regulatory framework.


To shine and succeed in this role, we wish that you:
  • have a professional experience (at least 3 years) on tactical and strategic level with purchasing and business development within Transportation
  • understand the transport industry, market conditions and macroeconomic trends and how those influence transport business
  • have excellent communication & negotiation skills and the ability to build trustful relationships
  • have good knowledge in building & evaluating fact-based business cases
  • are a team player with an ability to drive development
  • are fluent in English, both written and spoken
You have high ambitions to improve and do better. Your dedication and commitment together with curiosity for new things and making them happen. When needed you are also able to work with limited guidance and lead yourself into the unknown.
